Getting out in nature with Essential Oils

Essential Oils are more than just something to smell or use with your monthly massage. They can be used in a compact first aid travel kit and are perfect to take along camping or hiking. Try Clove, Lavender, Lemongrass, Peppermint, or Rosemary as an insect repellent. Add 40 drops Lavender, 15 drops Peppermint and 5 drops Roman Chamomile to 3 oz of water in a spray bottle, shake and mist on you to help cool you down while out in warm weather. Lavender mix with oil such as Jojoba or Coconut or some aloe vera gel is wonderfully soothing to sun burned skin. Below is a list of oils that can be used for various outdoor ouches, just remember to dilute the essential oil in a carrier oil before applying to your skin.

Bee Stings – Lavender, Lemon, Lemongrass, Melaleuca, Peppermint, or Roman Chamomile
Mosquite Bites – Lavender, Helichrysum, or Melaleuca
Snake Bites – Melaleuca
Spider Bites – Lavender, Lemon, Lemongrass, Melaleuca, Peppermint, or Roman Chamomile
Bruises – Fennel, Geranium, Helichrysum, or Lavender
Burns/ Blisters – Helichrysum, Lavender, Melaleuca, or Roman Chamomile
